National Armed Forces Day

Tomorrow (Saturday 26 June 2010) is National Armed Forces Day and we at RAFT would like to salute all those courageous men and women in our armed forces.  Their commitment to our safety and their bravery is an example to us all.

RAFT is delighted to announce that our newest research project will look at how we can adapt our current research to improve the treatment of those servicemen and women who unfortunately have been wounded.  We will be adapting our 'Smart Matrix'^TM to be used in acute and traumatic wounds.  Because of the morbidity and mortality associated with these wounds and the potential for lifelong scarring, any improvement in skin reconstruction technology could make a significant impact on the clinical treatment of such wounds and improve recovery, rehabilitation and perhaps even survival rates.

RAFT has already been talking to the surgeons at The Royal School of Military Medicine to investigate what are the challenges they face and how we can overcome them.
