Skin Cancer Appeal

Skin cancer appeal

Skin cancer is the fastest growing cancer in the UK. We need your help for our Skin Cancer Appeal – raising funds for vital research focusing on prevention, education and cure.

The aims of our research

The results of our research will help educate people about the dangers that the sun can bring, allowing them to make informed decisions on their sunbathing and tanning habits. We will also continue looking at current protection methods, and work towards developing a more effective sunscreen product. And we will pursue potential cures for this life threatening and hard-to-treat disease. You can find out more about our research here.

We need your support

Research is expensive; we need to raise half a million pounds a year to continue this vital work. By donating to – or fundraising for – our Skin Cancer Appeal, you’ll be helping us to develop solutions to the suffering caused by skin cancer. Case study
Three generations of support
“Since first hearing about RAFT 15 years ago I have rattled tins, cooked for receptions, wrapped up raffle prizes, put annual reports in envelopes and dispatched hundreds of Christmas cards.

My husband has had basal cell carcinomas removed and these small operations were often done by researchers from RAFT. So he decided to become a volunteer also.

Four years ago my daughter Julia ran the marathon and raised £1200 for RAFT.  She had cause to be grateful for their research because her baby had been born with a large birthmark on her wrist and it took four operations by Mr. David Gault - a teaching consultant at RAFT - to remove this unsightly blemish. She is now in training with her elder daughter for next year's marathon.

RAFT are always welcoming and grateful for any small service we perform and in our small way we hope we are helping to raise the money that they need to carry on with their important and vital research.”
